Chicago's best-known architect for condominiums has filed for bankruptcy and will retire. The firm of Lucien Lagrange submitted a Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition, citing debts of between $1 million and $10 million. The firm listed assets in the same range. Lagrange, 69, said his decision to retire precipitated the filing. He said his financial affairs are in turmoil because he's owed more than $1 million for an unbuilt project in Saudi Arabia. "I don't know when I'm going to be paid," he said.
